KINGDOM Invitation: Setting the Stage [A Disciple's Righteousness]
This week's sermon explored Jesus' teachings on the Law in Matthew 5:17-20. We delved into Christ's posture toward the Old Testament Law, His valuation of it, and the standard He sets for the Kingdom of God. The message emphasized that Jesus came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it, highlighting the insufficiency of human righteousness and the necessity of faith in Christ for true righteousness.
Takeaways:
Jesus fulfills the requirements of the Law because we cannot. His righteousness is the only righteousness we need for salvation.
Our pursuit of righteousness apart from Christ is futile. We are called to receive His righteousness, acknowledging that our own efforts are inadequate.
The standard of righteousness required to enter God's Kingdom can only be achieved through faith in Christ, not through legalistic observance of rules.
As we continue our journey through the Sermon on the Mount, let's reflect on areas in our lives where we might be relying on our own efforts rather than surrendering to Christ's righteousness. Are there ways we're performing instead of submitting? Are we holding back parts of our hearts while trying to earn God's approval?
May this message encourage us to deeper faith and reliance on Christ's finished work.
