KINGDOM Invitation // Don't Wait // pt 3

Jul 27, 2025    Wade Bishop

This week's sermon, "Masking Anger," delved into Matthew 5:21-26, exploring Jesus' teachings on anger and reconciliation. We learned that unattended anger can breed a murderous attitude, hindering our relationship with God. Jesus calls us to radical reconciliation within the body of Christ, emphasizing that our worship should wait if we know there's an unresolved issue with a brother or sister. Importantly, our witness is being watched by those far from God, who should see and experience God's mercy and forgiveness through how we handle anger.

Takeaways:

Procrastination in reconciliation can be painful and wasteful. Jesus urges us to "come to terms quickly" with our accusers, highlighting the urgency of addressing conflicts

We are called to "Pray, Guess, Go" when it comes to reconciliation. Trust the Holy Spirit to guide your words and actions, and don't wait for a magical moment to make things right.

While we should hate evil, we must be careful not to hate the evildoer. Our anger should reflect God's character ; slow to anger and abounding in love, always motivated by restoration.

As we continue our journey through the Kingdom Invitation series, let's remember that living out God's kingdom is often countercultural to the world around us. Our approach to anger and reconciliation can be a powerful witness to those watching our Christian lives.

May we all be encouraged to practice radical reconciliation without delay, reflecting the love and forgiveness of our Savior.
